If you are enjoying some of the performances so far from some Owatonna-natives at the Steele County Free Fair, just wait until next week when another homegrown talent, Matt Herzog, is set to release a new solo album.

Former Owatonnan, Matt Herzog, is set to release a new solo album next week. You might remember Herzog from the group The Half Ton Club which has performed before at the Great Steele County Get-Together in years past. If you aren't familiar with the band, or Herzog, here is some more information.

Now living in the Twin Cities, Herzog according to his bio:

Brings pure vocals and blistering Telecaster leads to gigs with a variety of local musicians.  As a father of twins working full-time, the silver lining of the pandemic was optimizing lockdown time to record a high quality rock album.  Fortunately, the soundproofed studio above his garage became fully functional just before the quarantine.  Collaborating remotely with former bandmates and a Nashville session drummer was a key foundation that enabled him to layer on vocals, guitars, piano, organ, bass and miking everyday sounds such as his daughter's bike bell.

Herzog's style of music borders on pure Americana and a Blues-Rock feel. You can hear some of the songs, two of which are available through Spotify, here.

The album is set to be released on August 27th.
