The family of the 43-year-old Eveleth man who died following an incident on Ely Lake in northeastern Minnesota last week has identified him as Ryan Johnson and shared new details about the tragic circumstances surrounding his death.

Officials say the victim was paddleboarding with his daughter when he apparently drowned.

The Chisago County Sheriff's Office reported that the incident occurred Thursday evening and the man's body was recovered Friday morning.
