Minnesota Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov has won the Calder Trophy given to the top rookie in the National Hockey League. Kaprizov becomes the first player in Wild franchise history to win this award. The 24-year old had 51 points which includes 27 goals in the 2021 season.
The Minnesota Wild will play the Vancouver Canucks in the NHL play-in playoffs as part of the NHL restart in Edmonton. The opening series is best of 5 with the winner advancing to the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs. The Wild are a slight underdog as a #10 seed while Vancouver is the the #7 seed.
