Minnesota-based Target made the announcement this morning that they will no longer require their guests or their team members that are fully vaccinated to wear a facemask while in Target stores.

Last week, the Centers for Disease Control issued new guidance saying vaccinated people would no longer need to wear a facemask indoors, except in some circumstances like riding a bus, planes, hospitals, and more. After the CDC sent out its new guidance last week, Target said they would continue to require masks for guest and their team members while reviewing the CDC's recommendations.

As of this morning, Target issued a press release saying that face masks would no longer be required for vaccinated guests and team members, except for where it is required by local ordinances.

Given the CDC’s updated guidance last week, Target will no longer require fully vaccinated guests and team members to wear face coverings in our stores, except where it’s required by local ordinances.

Target also said that it is recommended that non-vaccinated guests and team members continue to wear face coverings, and the store will continue its increased safety measures, including social distancing.

Face coverings will continue to be strongly recommended for guests and team members who are not fully vaccinated and we’ll continue our increased safety and cleaning measures, including social distancing, throughout our stores.

There are still others stores in Rochester and across Southeast Minnesota that may require their guests and team members to continue to wear a face mask. You can find our latest list here! The City of Rochester is still requiring facemask in all city facilities.
