We know there are a lot of great things about Minnesota. And, if we're being honest, there are some not-so-great things, too. But do you agree with this new survey's list of the Best and Worst Things About Minnesota?

The crew over at Wall Street 24/7 just compiled a new list detailing the best and worst things about all 50 states that make up the U S of A. And what they figured out was the Best Thing in Minnesota was a little surprising to me.

Their list says the Best Thing in Minnesota is having the 'lowest premature mortality' in the country. "Minnesota residents are the most likely to live into old age, with a U.S.-low premature mortality rate. Just 266 state residents per 100,000 die before turning 75," the site said.

Huh. I never knew that was a good thing about living here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Having the world-famous Mayo Clinic and access to way-above-average in our backyard must be part of that, right? While that's good, I'd maybe have gone with our high standard of living, or maybe access to our tremendous outdoors, but what do I know?

Now, when it comes to the Worst Thing About Minnesota, I'm going to give you three guesses as to what their survey said-- and the first two don't count. Did you guess, 'the freezing cold?' If you, ding-ding-ding, you're right! "In the land of 10,000 lakes, you can bet almost all of them are frozen in winter. Minnesota has close to the lowest average annual temperatures in the country," the site said.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. We all know our winters are long, cold and snowy here. But we kind of take pride in that, don't we? The temperature is at 30 below zero? Bring it on! Over 70 inches of snow last year? No problem! This is Minnesota! That's really not the WORST thing about our state, is it?
