This Local Family Is Looking For Some Help After Diagnosis
Sometimes we all need a little help. It might be something as small as a kind word on a bad day, a shoulder to lean on, or a few dollars. This Faribault family is looking for a little help getting to and from Rochester as another member of there family has been diagnosed with heart failure.
KAAL-TV spotlighted a family that has gone through some tough times recently and just got some more bad news. It’s been three years since the Torres family lost their dad. Now, two more family members are fighting for their lives, battling the same disease that took their father.
In 2015 Samatha Torres' father, at the time he was only 40, died after complications from congestive heart failure. Now, two of her siblings are in the ICU at Mayo Clinic for the same disease. Torres told KAAL-TV that “...both are in the ICU and they both are currently on life support."
19-year-old Gloria had a heart transplant back in 2014, but she was admitted to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys Campus on Nov. 9. On Nov. 10, just one day after Gloria was re-admitted to the hospital Gloria's older brother Isaac was admitted while visiting his sister in the hospital with the same disease. In addition to the heart problems, Isaac’s lungs keep filling with fluid.
With the holidays right around the corner, times are tough financially for the family traveling back and forth from Faribault to Rochester so Samantha has set up a GoFundMe to help with the expenses. So far the campaign has raised $800 of the $10,000 goal.
Samantha wrote on the GoFundMe page "Anyone who knows my family knows we’ve been dealing with this for some time now. God bless you all! You don’t even have to donate just a share will be more than enough."
