WARNING: The photos in this post will not only make you very angry, but they are also somewhat graphic in nature.

It's been a dangerously hot week, there's no doubt about that. If there's anything good about this story, it's that these dogs were found before it got even worse. But they really need help fast.

According to KCRG, the Animal Rescue League of Iowa is seeking your assistance in caring for a pair of emaciated dogs named Zeus and Kyda. They were found at a property in Des Moines on Monday, starving and dehydrated, in 100+ degree heat index.

Kyda, according to the Animal Rescue League was in particular danger, because she was endangered due to being thin and dehydrated. Kyda was found lying on a balcony, with no water, no way to seek shelter from the hot sun.

How can you help? Donations to Zeus and Kyda can be made to the Animal Rescue League via their website. According to the Animal Rescue League:

Kyda and Zeus arrived at the Animal Rescue League emaciated, dehydrated and in need of emergency medical care on one of the hottest days of the year. Your donation to our Miracle Medical Fund today will help them heal and give them and other pets like them the second chances they deserve.

When the dogs were brought in, the ARL's on-call vet was called in after hours to administer IV fluid to the dogs, who are now under monitoring and a special feeding schedule to be able to regain weight safely. KWWL reports that 32-year-old Nathaniel Bifford of Des Moines has been charged with two counts of animal neglect against the two dogs. An investigation is ongoing.
