Minneapolis (KROC AM News) - Voters in Minneapolis have rejected a proposal “to remove the Police Department and replace it with a Department of Public Safety.”

And by a fairly wide margin, with 56-percent voting against the proposal and 44-percent voting in favor.

The proposal surfaced and gained political traction in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd last year and attracted national attention. Large amounts of money were spent by supporting and opposing sides. Prominent politicians expressed support for and opposition to the referendum.
