Yesterday parts of the North Shore saw some extreme weather, which included Lake Superior. Waves from the Great Lake crashed into the sides of cliffs along the shore, causing lake water to spray high into the air, then falling and freezing on the rocks and plants below creating a mystical-looking scene.

A video of the angry-looking Lake Superior was shared on the social media page North Shore Vibe by John Keefover shows just how big those waves were.

The video, which had been shared over 2000 times by this morning, shows the massive Lake Superior waves crash into the side of the cliffs at Tettegouche State Park.

While the video of the giant waves on Lake Superior isn't anything new, but it is a good reminder that the generally quiet lake has a wild side when the weather is right.

The storm was the second one in 11 days to create massive waves on Lake Superior, you can see the video from December 16th, following the serial derecho that caused numerous tornados across Minnesota on December 15th, that video also shows just how powerful Lake Superior is.

For those who are interested in the big waves that can occur on Lake Superior, there are more waves predicted for tonight according to the National Weather Service, as 7 foot high waves can be expected tonight before things calm down.

Visitors to the North Shore should exercise caution around the lakeside as the crashing waves have created slippery surfaces. As you can see from the videos, you really don't want to fall into the lake when it's swirling like that and crashing into the rocks with such force.
