Zumbrota-Mazeppa connected on eight three-point shots and Kenyon-Wanamingo had none in a Cougar 53-37 win on parents night in the Castle on Tuesday.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa had a lead early, Kenyon-Wanamingo tied the game at 17, only to see the Cougars take a 29-23 halftime lead thanks in large part to five three-pointers in the first half.

The Knights struggled at the free throw line in the second half after going seven of nine in the first half. They finished 9 of 18 from the line.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa was 13 of 18 on three throws.

Kenyon-Wanamingo was right at the doorstep of a single-digit game with four minutes to go when repeated turnovers were turned into points and the Cougars pulled away.

Six-foot junior Isaiah Stueber led Z-M with 15 points and tallied three three-point baskets.

Six-foot sophomore Isaiah Nolte added 14 points with two threes and 6-foot senior Noah Erickson had 11 points and three three-point baskets.

Our Held Bus Service Knights of the night were 5-foot-10 sophomore Jack Buelke with nine points and 6-foot senior Ethan Benda with eight on a night when offense was at a premium for K-W.

Kenyon-Wanamingo is at Goodhue on Friday for a boys and girls varsity doubleheader and both games will be on KDHL. Zumbrota-Mazeppa's next game is also at Goodhue on Tuesday.
