Owatonna athletes brought home a pair of top five finishes from the Minnesota State High School League track and field meet Saturday. Sophomore Justin Gleason took fourth in the long jump. Senior Jack Titchenal captured fifth in the 110 hurdles. Junior Ryan Gregory was 16th in the 300 hurdles.

Gleason's leap of 21 feet, 5.25 inches was just shy of his school-record jump of 22 feet, 9.25 inches in his final attempt at the section meet. Titchinal ran the finals in 15.05 seconds. Gregory finished in 42.96.

Triton junior Owen Petersohn collected a pair of top five medals with a fourth place finish in the 110 hurdles in 15.74 seconds and a fifth place in the 300 hurdles in 40.99.

Blooming Prairie freshman Annaka Forsberg finished fourth in the high jump at 5 feet, three inches, one inch more than her qualifying jump at sections. BP junior Xavier Rennie was sixth in the 110 hurdles in 15.88 seconds. Medford freshman Jackie Cole took ninth in the long jump at 16 feet, 9.75 inches.

The three-day track and field meet was held at St. Michael-Albertville High School.

HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS NOT THROUGH YET

The clay target state event in Alexandria continues through Tuesday, June 22. Owatonna shoots that day in the largest class of schools. The MSHSL-sanctioned state event is Friday, June 25. The Huskies Joe Earl has qualified for the individual portion of the event. Owatonna also has a high school fishing team. Their season runs into the summer.

GRANDMA'S MARATHON RETURNS TO IN-PERSON

After a virtual event in 2020, Grandma's Marathon along the North Shore returned to an in-person event over the weekend. A smaller field of about 4,000 runners participated. Twelve Owatonna runners finished and are listed alphabetically.
