The Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinals avenged their first loss of the season in a big way Saturday night defeating United South Central 26-0.

You've heard the saying "defense wins championships" and if that's true the Cardinals have as good a chance as anybody.

In the Cardinals three losses this season they only allowed more than one touchdown once and the same is true for their wins.

The only loss where the opponent scored more than one touchdown on Bethlehem Academy came during their homecoming game against state ranked Mayer Lutheran.

The final was 14-7.

The only other opponent able to produce multiple scores on the Cardinals was Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity and Bethlehem Academy won that game 27-26.

The Cardinals have allowed an average of 7.5 points per game.

Early in the year Bethlehem Academy was struggling to score or they might be unbeaten right now.

United South Central defeated the Cardinals 6-0 in the season opener, Kenyon-Wanamingo won 8-0 in the Moat and Mayer Lutheran beat Bethlehem Academy 14-7.

Since the Mayer Lutheran loss on October 6 the Cardinals have tallied 75 points in the last three games and the two victories in the last two games of the regular season came against teams with one loss at the time.

BA also has just one loss on the road and the remainder of the schedule will be on the road.

Bethlehem Academy will play Friday night in Jordan against a St. Clair team they defeated in the final regular season contest 21-8 at Bruce Smith Field.
