Bethlehem Academy Girls Score Road Win at Randolph

Faribault Bethlehem Academy traveled to Randolph tonight for a Gopher Conference battle that resulted in a Cardinals 60-52 victory.  BA had the perfect compliment of inside drives to the basket by senior Mercedes Huerta and the outside shooting of junior Kate Trump.

Huerta, named Sno-Ball Queen Saturday had 20 points for the Cardinals while Trump scored all 18 of her points from three point range.  Bethlehem Academy finished the game with 11 three point baskets while the Rockets finished with two.

Huerta scored 15 points in the first half with the Cardinals taking a 37-27 halftime lead.  They seemed to run their offense to perfection.  Trump hit open threes or teammates rolled hard to the basket off screens for layups.

Randolph battled hard each time BA took a double digit lead they would get the deficit down to a one or two possession game.

Right after the half it took awhile for Bethlehem Academy to score as the Rockets blasted out of the half on a multi-basket run to cut the Cardinals lead to a single possession.

In addition to Huerta and Trump combining for 38 of the tem's 60 points the Cardinals bench scored 14 points while Randolph got no points off their bench.

The Rockets were led by junior Paige Ford with 25 points and junior Anna Olson tallied 17 points.  32 of their 52 points came in the paint.

Randolph turned the ball over 10 times in the first half with BA converting them into 11 points.  They finished the game with 14 turnovers, 13 points off them by the Cardinals.

Bethlehem Academy had 7 turnovers in the game despite a fair amount of pressure defense from the Rockets.

The statistic of the game might have been bench points.  BA had 14 points scored by reserves while Randolph finished with 0 points from their bench.

Freshmen Anna Demars and Anna Tobin each scored 8 points to lead that bench production.

Sophmore Emily Coonrod had 7 points as four players scored for Randolph while 9 players contributed to contribute to the Cardinals scoring.

BA is now 8-7 overall, 3-5 in the Gopher.  The Rockets are 5-15 overall, 3-4 in Gopher action.

Our Cashwise Foods and Pharmacy of Owatonna Delivery of the Game was awarded to Ford for her 25 points to lead all players in the game in scoring.

The Malecha's Auto Body of Faribault Crunch Time Faribault Players of the Game were Huerta and Trump for combining to score 38 of the team's 60 points.

The Cardinals host Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton Thursday while Randolph has Medford come to their gym Friday.
