Faribault Bethlehem Academy coaches agreed their team played their best match of the season tonight in a sweep over the Owatonna Huskies in Owatonna.  Scores were 25-7, 25-20, 25-14.

It was senior night and six Huskies seniors were honored between the Junior Varsity and Varsity matches which meant the match didn't start until 7:38 p.m.  It was over before 9:00 p.m.

Owatonna Head Coach Jayson Kaytor said it was the worst performance for his team since taking over the program a couple weeks into the season.

The Huskies had one kill in the first set.  That's it.  One.  The other six points scored by Owatonna came from Bethlehem Academy errors.  The Cardinals were very aggressive on their serves led by freshman Reagan Kangas with 2 aces in the first set and 3 ace serves on the night.

Bethlehem Academy also had an impressive block led by senior 5'11 Lexi Boyd.  I had Boyd with 6 blocks on the night.  She also led the team in kills with 7.  Freshman 5'9 Kate Trump, junior 5'9 Kennedy Tutak each had 5 kills, sophomore 5'10 Ellie Cohen, senior 5'11 Haley Lang 4 kills for a very balanced offensive attack.

Owatonna was led by senior 5'11 Kaitlyn Madole with 5 kills, junior 5'10 Emily Hagen 4 kills.  The Huskies had 12 total kills in the second set and 10 total kills in the third set.

The six seniors honored were Kallen Hoffman, Ruth LIvingston, Brynn Butler, Anna Vetsch, Kaitlyn Madole, Emma Loveless.

Our Faribault State Farm Insurance agents Faribault players of the match were Boyd, Raddatz and setters Kaitlyn Kotek and Reagan Kangas.

We had a new feature too.  Malecha's Auto Body of Faribault Crunch Time Kill of the Match went to Trump with two hammer kills in the first set which seemed to set the tone for the team.  Malecha's is providing this crunch time award to athletes in all broadcasts of Faribault Falcon and Bethlehem Academy sports during the year.

All those selected will go into a drawing for a $2,000 scholarship to be awarded at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.

Bethlehem Academy will see if they can carry the momentum into a match Tuesday night against Class A #2 rated Waterville-Elysian-Morristown.  The Buccaneers are riding a 10 set winning streak against some very good competition.

The match will be aired live on KDHL Radio, 920 AM with a 7:00 p.m. broadcast start time scheduled.
