Representatives of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota and Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism stopped by for today's AM Minnesota show.  Big Brother Big Sisters is having a special event Tuesday, November 27th at The Cheese Cave in downtown Faribault.  The Faribault Area Chamber had a few events to educate us about including their Faribault Main Street Winterfest.

Kelly Nygaard from the Faribault Area Chamber reported there are 40 units signed up for the Winterfest Parade scheduled for Saturday, December 1st following a 5:30 p.m. fireworks show over the Viaduct.  They would love to have more units in the parade.  The 2nd Annual Winterfest runs Thursday, November 29th through Saturday, December 1, 2018.

Thursday night 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.there is ice carving, horse drawn wagon rides and the annual window decorating contest in downtown Faribault.  Stop down and vote on your favorite window.  Due North will be caroling.  Santa and his reindeer will be at Buckham Center.

Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Teen Night at the Faribault Community Center takes place with an open swim and gym for just a dollar and a canned food donation.

Saturday the fun begins 1:00 p.m. and goes until 10:00 p.m. with a snowmobile show, Sleds on Central presented by the Faribo Sno Go Club from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

At 5:30 p.m. it's the fireworks show over the Viaduct followed by the Parade of Lights.

It's all capped off with the Bundle Up and Boogie Street Dance featuring the Horizontal Hero group beginning 6:30 p.m.  There is a $5.00 cover charge.  There will be heaters and a tent to dance under.

Michelle Redman, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota and BBBS Marketing Director Andrew Carlson gave us details about their Tuesday event called the Holiday Big Cheese.

You can enjoy a complimentary glass of wine or beer, appetizers, and dessert provided by The Cheese Cave and Bluebird Cakery.  Listen to live music by the Bad Tangerines and hear from two Big Brothers Big Sisters matches.

The event begins with a 5:00 p.m. social.  Music starts at 5:30 p.m. and there will be a short program.

If you can't make it Tuesday there will be an information session on Wednesday, November 28th from 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. at the BBBS office, 322 Central Avenue in downtown Faribault.
