ELKO! Speedway is offering up a weekend FULL of family events on Saturday night as their Eve of Destruction will feature not only racing, but a petting zoo, AND fireworks. If you are still looking for something to do with the family and you don't want to go too far, this might be an option for you for the weekend.

ELKO! Speedway is opening up their gates at 5pm Saturday, July 3rd with activities beginning at 6pm. Some of the things being offered up this weekend at ELKO include jet trucks, school bus races, drift races, racing that will feature late models, thunder cars, and legend race cars, and fireworks!

There will be a petting zoo and pony rides available for some of the younger race fans too according to ELKO Speedways website.

If you've got kids that aren't into all the potential noise, ELKO! is also offering up movies at their drive-in which runs both Friday and Saturday gates open at 8pm Friday and 9pm Saturday.

Last weekend's movies and racing were canceled due to the heavy rainfall and the chance for lightning. The movies that were planned to be viewed were Harry Potter films, and it's unclear when the films and or racing will be made up.

July 10th will be a big day for ELKO as the ARCA Menards 250 series heads to town for racing, probably one of the bigger events to come to ELKO since COVID, more details on that event can be found below.

Most Visited State Parks In Minnesota: Is Your Favorite in the List?

Minnesota has 66 beautiful state parks. The parks have an average of 9,700,000 visitors each year. Interestingly enough, nearly 19% of park visitors come from other states and countries, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Now, my favorite State Park is Jay Cooke in Carlton, MN, but it did not break into the top 5.
