The Cannon Valley Fair in Cannon Falls opens today with family fun for everyone.  It's not just a slogan.  They truly try to come up with something at the fair that will appeal to every person in the family.  From Grandparent to Toddler and everyone in between.

Day Care Day is today.  Gold Star Amusements is on the midway with three new rides this year.

They are in operation from 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. each day of the fair through Monday, July 4th.

KDHL was honored to visit with a representative of Gold Star, representatives of Schroeder Concessions of Faribault and the Cannon Falls Lions Club as well as fair board members.

Fair Board President Greg Kurtz told us he met wife Lynn, also a member of the board at the Cannon Valley Fair in 1976 by the Scrambler ride.

Proving even love can be found at the Cannon Valley Fair.

Kurtz says he has been at the fair for 60 years continuously.

Nancy Hovel is a Director and Chair of the 4-H Open Class and Livestock Committee.  She explained the Cannon Valley Fair is unique because it's a practice fair for youth to get used to showing their projects.  They don't earn a trip to the State Fair from the community fair in Cannon Falls.

That means there can be (and usually are) kids from a number of surrounding counties at the Cannon Valley Fair.  Dakota, Rice, Goodhue for sure and sometimes Waseca or Wabasha Counties.

Saturday morning there are a few 4H and FFA shows featuring animals that are free to watch.  At 9:00 a.m. a Sheep Show is in the Sheep Barn, Rabbit Show in the General Arena.

At 10:00 a.m. a Dairy Show takes place in the Judging Arena followed at 11:00 a.m. by the District VI Holstein Show.

Cannon Valley Youth Jackpot Market Lamb Show is 6:00 p.m. today.

Sunday the 4H and FFA Goat Show is 11:00 a.m. with the Cannon Valley Youth Jackpot Meat Goat Show at 3:30 p.m.

July 4th at 5:00 p.m. the 4-H, FFA and Open Class Livestock will be released.

There is a Breakout Route-Escape Room Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with tickets sold online at app.escapetix.com for $10 each.

Grandstand shows include Truck Pull Friday at 6:00 p.m.  Saturday Auto Cross starts 5:00 p.m. Sunday there is a Demo Derby at 5:00 p.m. Friday the traditional FREE show features Harness Horse Racing at 2:00 p.m.

Harness Horse Racing has been part of the Cannon Valley Fair since the fair began 107 years ago.

The Free Entertainment Stage is solid with great music acts like Chicken Ranch Duo 8:30 to Midnight tonight.  Nationwide Boogie performs 8:30 to Midnight Saturday.

Chad Johnson takes the stage Sunday 8:30 to Midnight with Bryan Anderson 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. Monday.

The Grande Parade has over 100 units this year starting at 11:00 a.m. Monday.

Traditional Dusk Fireworks always cap off the Cannon Valley Fair.
