The 2022 Rice County Fair has a lot of exciting free acts to see and two more grandstand shows to experience this weekend in Faribault.

KDHL Radio is proud to present Old Tyme music with Malek's Fishermen entertaining from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. this afternoon on the Sellner Stage right next to the station's Aurora Pharaceuticals, LLC of Northfield tent.

Malek's Fishermen features Czech and German style polkas, waltzes, two-steps, country, big band, dixieland dance music throughout the upper midwest.

Now in the third generation of Malek musicians you are encouraged to kick up your heels in front of the Sellner Stage at the Rice County Fair.

Other free acts today and tomorrow include Brodini Family Comedy & Magic Show.

Shows are 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. Saturday and 12:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Tuey with his juggling show 2:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m. today and 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Electric Fusion performs 11:00 a.m. Saturday and Noon Sunday with an open mike at 1:00 p.m.

8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. tonight Michell Hall and the Tennessee Trio are on the Sellner Stage.

Sunday the 4-H Fashion Review is also on that stage with the 4-H Parade of Champions at 4:00 p.m.

I took in a Strong Man show on the 4-H Plaza along with many other people.  In fact the crowds have been large enough to require more bleachers to be brought down to the area.

He's impressive.  During the show I saw him lift a bar with about 600 pounds total sitting on each end and walk about 15 feet to the west.

He also bent a big bolt into a horseshoe shape.

Hammered a big nail into a frying pan and board with his hand.

Ripped some thick telephone books which he pointed out are hard to find these days.

Grandstand shows include a NTPA Truck and Tractor Pull 7:00 p.m. tonight with KDHL Farm Director Jerry Groskreutz the official un-hooker.  Rumor has it Jerry will ride a horse for the first time in a number of years too so that might be worth the price of admission.  Adults $15, Children 6-11 $5 and 5 & under Free.

Gates open one hour prior to the show.

The Sunday Grandstand show is the traditional end of the Rice County Fair Demolition Derby with PowerWheels at 4:00 p.m. followed by the Demo Derby 4:30 p.m.

John Dvorak RCF Executive Secretary told us on the KDHL Fair Talk segment he has heard there could be over 60 vehicles participating in the Demolition Derby.

Don't forget the RCF is giving away cash, gas cards, etc. during their Daily Prize drawings at 5:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. today and 3:45 p.m. Sunday with the Grand Prizes Drawing 4:00 p.m. Sunday on the KDHL Cannon Stage.

I stopped by the east end of the fairgrounds to see a lot of people enjoying themselves at the Rice County Historical Society Museum and Heritage Halls.

I can't believe the number of signs from former Faribault businesses that have closed in the 35 years I've lived here.

There are so many things to see in both Heritage Halls and the Museum main space and Carlander Room you could probably spend a week in there and not see everything.

In the Carlander Room is a display of the former Isaacson Implement of Nerstrand items donated by the David Isaacson family.
