Community Rallies Around Local Family, Raises $6,000

My high school and college friends, even some family members ask me why I like living in a small town. My answer is always the same, it just feels comfortable, and people will go out of their way to help you. Here is another instance of that right here in Faribault where a local mosque rallied around the Howells family in an effort to assist them as their son battles Myosarcoma. Members of the Abubakar As-Saddique Islamic Center mosque recently raised over $6,000 for Xavier Howells. 

The Howells family has recently experienced quite a bit of tragedy, their 3-year-old son Casimir died in December two months after an MRI scan showed that Xavier had a mass on his lung.

In an interview with Fox 9's Christina Palladino Bashir Omar, “I’m a Muslim, he’s a Christian, and we still live together in a community that supports one another.” And that's what being a community is all about, being color blind and lifting those up in need.
