The Faribault Lakers baseball team fell at home Wednesday night to a very good Elko squad 5-1.  The #3 and #4 batters in the Express order had 7 of the team's 12 hits and collected 5 RBI.  Both were from Lakeville.  Dylan Thomas had 4 hits including a home run and two RBI.  T.J. Evanson 3 hits, 3 RBI and a crushed home run to center field.

Elko scored a run in the first, two more in the third and two in the eighth inning.  The Lakers lone run came in the 5th inning.  Faribault had 8 hits and an error.  Elko had no errors and their pitchers walked one batter.  The Lakers pitchers had no walks allowed.

Right handed pitcher Nick Dorfman of Lakeville went the first six innings for the win throwing 83 pitches, 55 for strikes.  He walked one and struck out 6 while allowing 6 hits.  Devon Schewe threw the final three innings for a save fanning 5 batters while allowing 2 hits.  He threw a total of 37 pitches, 26 for strikes.

Faribault left handed pitcher Egan Bonde suffered his first loss of the season, going 8 innings with 11 hits, 5 runs, 0 walks and 5 strikeouts.  Joe Grote threw the final inning with a hit and two strikeouts.  Bonde had a total pitch count of 122, 92 strikes.  Grote threw 14 pitches, 10 strikes.

Jake Stocker was the only Laker to have a multi-hit game with a pair of singles

The Lakers are now 7-8 and host Lonsdale Friday at 7:30 p.m.

It was Elko's 9th straight win (they have not lost in June).  The Express play in the Hinckley Invitational Tournament this Friday through Sunday.  They open against the Mora Blue Devils 6:00 p.m. Friday.
