Ryan Lueken, recently named Activities Director for the Faribault Public Schools has decided against taking the position.

Ken Hubert, Activities Director previously in the district has agreed to fill the position on an interim basis.  Hubert told KDHL, "I hope to be in the position for 3 to 6 weeks.  We'll see what happens."  Hubert did say he was very happy when Lueken accepted the position.

"When I retired Ryan was one of the first people I thought would be good for the job."

Last Friday I sat in Ryan's office at Faribault High School and taped a segment for our final Faribault Coaches Show of the season which aired last Saturday.

Luedke said he was excited about the new position and was looking forward to. "Growing involvement in all activities in the school district.

Apparently, after some contemplation, he submitted his resignation to Superintendent Todd Sesker on Monday.

The position is being posted but the timing is going to be difficult to get an experienced person in the job.  School is just around the corner and there are a lot of things that need to be completed.

For example, a new scoreboard is being installed at Bruce Smith Field that will be similar to the huge video boards in Nomeland Gym at Faribault High School.  That needs to be coordinated.  It's just one example of a multitude of things the Activities Director is asked to do.

Hubert is the perfect choice for the interim position because he knows the coaches, is a member of the Sports boosters group that works closely with the A.D., and lives in the community.

Here is the podcast of last Saturday's show which includes the Lueken interview and a visit with Chris Whillock about an upcoming volleyball tournament fundraiser for the Tommy Allen Scholarship fund.
