The Faribault American Legion Post 43 baseball team begins Sub-State 2 playoff action Wednesday at Franklin Rogers Field in Mankato against New Ulm Gold.  There are 15 Sub-State Tournaments in Division 1 with the winners advancing to play in the State Tournament in Edina the first weekend of August.  There are 8 teams in Sub-State 2.

Jordan received the top seed and plays Sleepy Eye at 5:00 p.m. at Mankato East field. Mankato National is #2 and plays Fairmont at 7:30 p.m. at Franklin Rogers.  #3 seed Mankato American faces #6 Worthington at Mankato East at 7:30 p.m.  Faribault is the #5 seed.

If Faribault loses they play Thursday 11:30 a.m. at Mankato East field and if they win they play Friday, 10:30 a.m. at Franklin Rogers against the winner of the Jordan vs Sleepy Eye contest.

Sub-State 1 has 10 teams and is being played in Albert Lea.  The bracket is not on the Legion Baseball website yet.  Owatonna, Austin, four Rochester teams, Winona and Kasson are the other teams

Sub-State 6 site and bracket is also not on the Legion Baseball website.  Northfield is one of the 8 teams involved.  Others include Lakeville South, South St. Paul, Inver Grove Heights, Hastings, Red Wing, Eastview and Prior Lake.

Sub-State 5 games will be played at Ali-Magnet Park in Burnsville with 9 teams participating.  New Prague, Farmington, Lakeville North, Apple Valley, Rosemount, East Ridge, Woodbury and St. Paul Park.

The State Tournament is scheduled for the first weekend in August.  Faribault has never hosted the State Legion Tournament.  Neither has Owatonna.  Every other Big Nine Conference town has.  Rochester, Austin, Albert Lea, Mankato, Winona, Northfield have all hosted.
