The Faribault Falcons defeated the Red Wing Wingers 5-3 in a penalty riddled game at the Faribault Ice Arena tonight.  Fourteen penalties were whistled. Ten against the Wingers.  The Falcons had 46 shots on goal.  Red Wing 25 shots.

Red Wing opened the scoring in the first period at 12:49.  Then added another goal on a power play at 15:17.  40 seconds later Faribault responded when senior Noah Murphy scored assisted by junior Jordan Nawrocki.  Shots on goal were 11 to 8 in favor of the Falcons.

Faribault tied the game 10:05 into the second period when junior Blake Vinar scored with assists by junior Zach Siegert and senior Leighton Weasler. With 1:12 to go in the period the Falcons took the lead on a Siegert unassisted goal.

Shots on goal in the second period were 19 to 8 favoring Faribault.

2:51 into the third period the Wingers tied the game.  At 7:15 Faribault junior Luke Vinar tallied the go ahead goal with assists by Murphy and sophomore Grady Goodwin.

The Falcons got insurance with a power play goal by Murphy with 2:03 to go in the game.  Credited with an assist on the goal was sophomore Riley Hustvedt.

Senior Jake Dolter had 22 saves for Faribault.  The Falcons are 15-6-2 and go to Owatonna Monday night.  Red Wing is  6-17 and travels to John Marshall Tuesday night.
