The Faribault Falcons boys hockey team traveled to Inver Grove Heights last night and came home 4-2 victors despite being outshot 34-16.  The Spartans and Falcons had a scoreless first period with Simley recording 9 shots on goal and Faribault 4.

Simley was 1 for 3 on the power play.  Faribault 0 for 2.  4:49 into the second period the Falcons scored on a Jordan Nawrocki shot assisted by Kory Johnson and Brody Pavel.  16:24 The Spartans got a power play goal that was answered 29 seconds later.  Blake Vinar scored for Faribault with 7 second to go in the period assisted by Zach Siegert.  Shots on goal were 12-6 favoring Simley.

13:04 of the third period Simley tied the game.  Again Faribault answered very quickly.  In fact 27 seconds later Zach Slinger scored assisted by Siegert and Lucas Linnemann.

Siegert got an empty net goal with 32 seconds to go in the game assisted by Noah Murphy.  Shots were 13 to 6 favoring Simley.

Spencer Ell was in net for Faribault and stopped 32 shots.

The Falcons are 4-1.  They host LaCrescent-Hokah Saturday at 12:30 p.m.  The Spartans fell to 1-4.
