For the second time this week the Faribault Falcons boys hockey team scored 8 goals in a lopsided win over the Austin Packers 8-1 in Austin.  Faribault's first goal was scored by Owen Nesburg (2) with a marvelous assist by freshman Oliver Linnemann (4).

The assist was chosen for our Cashwise Foods and Pharmacy of Owatonna Delivery of the Game.  Linnemann flew behind the net and executed a perfect, hard pass to Nesburg who wasted no time shooting the puck.

That was 1:11 into the game and really set the tone for the contest.  Faribault would score three more times in the first period.

At 4:30 Zach Siegert (5) scored the first goal of his hat trick assisted by Grady Goodwin (2) and Luke Vinar (1).  Less than a minute later Keaton Ginter (2) scored with assists by Jordan Nawrocki (3) and Jax Bokman (1).

The final goal of the period was an end to end skate with a terrific finish by Goodwin (2).  An unassisted goal.  Faribault 4 Austin 0.

Against Red Wing in Faribault the Falcons had eight different players score goals.  Tonight at Riverside Arena in Austin five collected goals and four had multiple point nights.

Starting goalie Maclain Weasler left midway through the second period so Jack Knutson could get some time in the net.  That was not reflected on the game sheet however.  Austin scored their third goal of the season about midway through that period.

Jordon Nawrocki (2) had the next Faribault goal at 7:28 with Zach Slinger (2) and Bokman (2) credited with assists.

At 9:38 Siegert (6) scored following a nice pass from Luke Vinar (2).  His hat trick goal was a end to end unassisted beauty 1:30 into the third period.  Siegert's seventh goal of the young season.  Ginter (3) scored the final goal at 11:35.  Assists by Bokman (3) and Nawrocki (4).

It was running time in the third period.  The Falcons were 0 for 3 on the power play after going 4 for 4 Tuesday night.  They came into the game with the best power play in the Big Nine (58.3%).

The Malecha's Auto Body Crunch Time Falcons of the game were Siegert, Nawrocki Bokman and Ginter.

Austin was 0 for 2 on the power play and has not scored a power play goal in 10 attempts.

Faribault had 50 shots on goal, Austin 15.  Faceoffs through the first two periods favored the Falcons 31-9.  I did not get the third period faceoff statistics.

The Falcons are 2-3.  The Packers fell to 0-4.

Austin is hosting Winona Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.  Faribault is off until Thursday, February 4 when they travel to the Rochester Rec Center to play the John Marshall Rockets.

In other BIg Nine boys hockey tonight Owatonna beat previously undefeated Northfield 4-3.  Albert Lea got by Red Wing 2-0.  Mankato West blanked Winona 5-0 and Rochester Mayo clubbed John Marshall 4-0.
