The Faribault Chamber of Commerce Ag-Business Committee delivered snacks to farmers who were busy with the harvest and fall tillage. It was a way of saying thank you for what you do producing food, fiber and fuel for a hungry nation and world. Ag-Business Committee members teamed up and set up routes in different townships in Rice County to deliver the snacks.

In the past the Ag-Business Committee have delivered box lunches too. Plans are already underway to expand the program next year to delivering hot lunches. Farmers will be contacted and will be able to order hot lunches and then the Ag-Business Committee deliver them to the field. In addition to delivering snacks and lunches to farmers in the field the Faribault Chamber Ag-Business Committee is involved in a number of other programs throughout the year.

In the adopt a third grade program Brent Fuchs and I go to all the third grade classes in Faribault and talk about how their food gets to the grocery store. We want them to understand if they want to eat they need a farmer! Then in the spring the third graders are bussed out to visit a farm. The Ag-Business Committee helps sponsor the Best of the Best Rice County Agriculture Hall of Fame Program at the Rice County Fair and the Farmer Appreciation Lunch or Breakfast too.

There are only a few Community Chamber of Commerce organizations in Minnesota that have an Ag-Business Committee and we are fortunate that Faribault is one of them. We have a very active group. In the picture is Ag-Business member Kelly from Community Coop Oil in Faribault who helped deliver snacks. If you would like to help out contact me at KDHL or the Faribault Chamber of Commerce!
