Dustin Dienst, Faribault Fire Chief reports at 2:07 a.m. November 4, 2022 his department along with Faribault Police, Rice County Sheriff and North Ambulance were all dispatched to a structure fire at 2026 198th St. West.

Upon arrival he says, "Large flames were seen from the backside of the home.  The occupants were out of the home and outside when firefighters arrived on the scene."

Shortly after their arrival, Dienst says, "Flames were present on the lower roof area/attic of the home. despite firefighters applying water to the attic area from the front yard.  Sheriff's Deputies and Faribault Police Officers drug a large supply line to the nearby hydrant to establish a water supply."

"Once the water supply was established, firefighters entered the home to attack the blaze.  The fire was extinguished and salvage and overhaul was performed."

Crews cleared the scene at 5:01 a.m.

Firefighters performed an initial investigation on the cause of the fire.  The State Fire Marshal's Office was contacted to assist with further investigation which is ongoing.

The homeowners escaped with no injuries but a firefighter did suffer a non-life threatening injury and was taken to Allina Hospital Faribault by North Ambulance.

Dienst comments in his News Release, "We are grateful that the occupants of the home escaped unharmed.  I was also very grateful to see our injured firefighter back at the station after the fire filling out paperwork with a smile on his face!"

KDHL spoke with the Faribault Fire Chief inquiring about the extent of damage.

He did not say it was a total loss but did say the home suffered extensive damage.
