Firefighters rushed to a late-night blaze in Faribault, quickly dousing flames that could have been avoided. It’s a wake-up call for all of us about kitchen vigilance.

It was determined a burn barrel was the source of ignition. Dustin Dienst, Faribault Fire Chief says, "Burn barrels are illegal and this is one of the reasons why."

There were no injuries and a cause was determined.

Chief Dienst commented, "This fire is suspicious but due to circumstances out of our control, determining a cause will be a challenge. No one was hurt in the incident and that's what matters most."

Dustin Dienst, Fire Chief says the ceremony will start at 7:46 a.m. which was the time the first plane struck the World Trade Centre in New York City.

Word is the City of Northfield wants to play Rice County because they were victorious over the City of Faribault.

Both Rice and Steele Counties and the cities of Faribault and Owatonna are on the Everbridge Emergency Notification System. Citizens of those communities are asked to sign up for notifications.

There was no information in the Fire Department News Release concerning the extent of damage to the home.

Dienst says in his updated Media Release, "Installing the LED lamp iinto a fluorescent fixture is a mistake that could be made by anyone. Please ensure that you are installing the correct lamp into any light fixture."

In his News Release Dienst says, "The home suffered major fire, smoke and water damage. I am grateful the children in the home know what to do when they discovered the smoke. They alerted everyone inside which is why everyone escaped unharmed."
