Faribault High School pitcher McKayla Armbruster was surrounded by friends and family today at Target Field in Minneapolis.  Armbruster will not likely forget this day because she was honored by the Twins and got to throw out the ceremonial first pitch for the game.

Armbruster received the honor because she was named Minnesota Ms. Softball in June.  The 2019 Falcons graduate led the state in strikeouts her junior and senior seasons and helped lead her fast pitch softball team to the 2018 Class 3A State Championship.

Armbruster threw the pitch in her usual underhand windmill fashion and the Twin who caught the pitch, Lewis Thorpe, a left handed pitcher from Australia told her he was nervous because he had never caught a pitch like that before.

He actually didn't catch the ball.  It went off his glove and went right to Armbruster's high school battery mate Abby Van Ryn who was on the field with McKayla's parents and 2018 Faribault graduate Breanna Bresnahan.

McKayla's Dad, Jesse said Van Ryn quipped, "Just had to throw one more to me, huh Mac?"

Armbruster will play softball this fall at Minnesota State Mankato.  Van Ryn will be playing softball at St. Thomas University.  Bresnahan plays at Minnesota State Duluth.
