One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 19 in Dakota County early Tuesday morning. The crash was reported at 5:57 A.M. on Highway 19 at Baldwin Ave in Greenvale Township. The 26-year-old Northfield woman suffered what was described as non-life threatening injuries.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, on Tuesday morning a Ford pickup was driving eastbound on Highway 19. The driver of the pickup then lost control of the vehicle causing it to spin 180 degrees and to slide over onto the westbound shoulder of Highway 19.

26-year-old Desiree Mcgeough of Northfield was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala,  applied the brakes hard enough to skid while trying to avoid the pickup truck. Mcgeough ended up striking the Ford pickup from behind.

After the collision, the driver of the Ford pickup fled the scene of the crash.

Road conditions at the time of the crash were dry according to the report. Mcgeough was taken to the Northfield Hospital.

Assisting the Minnesota State Patrol at the scene of the crash was the Rice County Sheriff's Office, an Off-Duty Northfield Fire Fighter, and Northfield Ambulance.

This is an active investigation with the State Patrol.
