The Minnesota Correctional Facility in Faribault has recorded it's first COVID-19 positive. Goodhue County today had it's first COVID death.

A Minnesota Department of Corrections chart of testing in the state's prisons reported the positive in Faribault was found in a staff member.  Among incarcerated people there have been 47 tests administered with no positives thus far.  29 confirmed negatives and 18 tests are pending.

System wide a total of 50 staff have had a confirmed positive for COVID-19 with the most (35) at Moose Lake.

879 prisoners have been tested statewide with 116 confirmed positive, 734 confirmed negative, 28 tests pending.  69 of 143 inmates tested in Willow River were positive.  39 out of 120 tested in Moose Lake were positive.

Goodhue County reported it's first COVID-19 death.  KDHL/POWER 96 checked with the Goodhue County Public Health Department for more specific information but they said they could not give any more details.

We asked about gender or age of the deceased.  They said they couldn't release that kind of information.  I asked where they were from in the county.  Too specific.  Urban or rural.  "Can't divulge." Region of the county, east, west, north, south.  They said sorry no ability to give out that information.

Goodhue County has had 40 total lab confirmed cases since their first reported COVID-19 case March 24, 2020.  21 individuals no longer need to be isolated.  5 were serious enough cases to be hospitalized.  1 patient was admitted to intensive care.  2 are currently hospitalized.

All numbers reported are from the previous day.   Goodhue County Public Health says the,  "Data only represents lab-confirmed positive cases, and does not necessarily represent the full scope of COVID-19 in Goodhue County."

Goodhue County Public Health reports exactly 50% percent of COVID positives have been female, 50% percent male.

3 of the 40 positives were people 70 and older.  The largest age group with 12 positives is people in their 20's.  Next is 50"s with 7 positives.  6 in their 40's and 6 in their 50's.  1 under 10 years of age.  2 cases between 10 and 19.  3 people in their 30's tested positive in Goodhue County.

The Goodhue County COVID-19 Cases by City chart shows 30% of the cases in the largest city in the County, Red Wing.  Cannon Falls is next with 25%, Kenyon 18%, Zumbrota and Wanamingo with 8% each.  Pine Island 5% ( part of Pine Island is in Olmsted County also).  Goodhue, Dennison and Welch Township are all 2% each.
