Austin, MN (KROC AM News) - A truck pulling a load of 170 hogs crashed Thursday in rural Mower County.

The sheriff’s office says the livestock truck was driving on County Rd 3 around 6:30 pm when the crash occurred near the intersection of 640th Ave.

According to the sheriff’s office, the driver “indicated he had taken the corner too close causing the trailer to roll into the SW corner of the ditch.”

The driver wasn’t hurt but about 20 of the hogs died. The remainder were transferred to another trailer.

Firefighters from Adams and Rose Creek assisted Mower County emergency management workers clear the scene. They were there for about six hours.
