How to Get Notified When You’re Eligible for the COVID-19 Vaccine in Minnesota
Minnesotans are eagerly awaiting their turn to get the Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine. Something that I've thought about is 'How will I know when I'm eligible?' Minnesota has now made it super easy to find out when you're eligible to receive the COVID vaccine with their COVID-19 Vaccine Connector. It's easy to sign up and then you'll get notified when you're eligible.
Before they launched this new system, I was wondering how we'd find out when we're eligible for the vaccine. Would it be a big announcement from the Governor? If it's a mass announcement, I might see it later in the day and miss my opportunity to sign up for an appointment because they're all filled already. But Minnesota seems to be trying to alleviate that issue with this Vaccine Connector.
It'll take the guesswork out of when each of us is eligible for the COVID vaccine. I signed up, and it was very simple, it takes just a couple of minutes. You can go to mn.gov/vaccineconnector to sign up yourself. They wanted to know things like if I worked in health care, what type of work I do, my age, if I have any health conditions that make me more at risk of serious complications from COVID, things like that. They also asked for a phone number and email.
Once you're signed up you just sit back, relax, be patient (which I understand can be hard right now!), and then when you're eligible for the vaccine you'll get a text and/or email letting you know. They'll also give you resources for where you can sign up for an appointment. Pretty simple!
