On the track, on the diamond, and in the gym, several current or former Owatonna High School athletes have enjoyed some memorable sports experiences this summer. Looking forward, another one was recently named to the elite hockey league for this fall.

Incoming OHS senior Keenan Young ran his way to some great finishes at the USATF Hershey National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, CA. Young ran three events with his top finish coming in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.23. That left him in tenth place just .49 seconds out of the finals.

Young finished 25th in the 110-hurdles with a clocking of 14.87. He was 30th in the 400 dash at 50.54. See his full results here. Young placed second in the 300-hurdles as a junior at the MSHSL state track meet this past June. He also competed in the 110-hurdles at state but didn't make the finals.

Another incoming Huskies' senior, Kaitlyn Madole played in the 16U National fast pitch softball tournament. She went 12-for-22 at the plate with a pair of home runs, two triples and three doubles.

OHS graduate Nolan Malo, an upcoming sophomore for Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, recently traveled to Spain to play basketball and do some sightseeing. Malo and teammate Marten Morem (Caledonia, MN) traveled through the company Beyond Sports according to the Gusties Athletic Department. The two teamed up with other athletes from mostly Division III schools to play club teams. They also helped conduct youth camps. Malo said, "It felt like a vacation as I was able to submerge in their culture."

Incoming Owatonna High School senior Zach Wiese was just named as a goalie for the fall elite hockey league, as tweeted by @Tonnaboyshockey.

Huskies grad Alec Holcomb is having an unforgettable summer playing baseball for Waterloo of the North Woods League. Read Jon Weisbrod's story.
