Crystal, MN (KROC-AM News) - An 18-year-old Iowa man is facing at least two felony charges for running over a Twin Cities law enforcement officer while attempting to flee from a State Trooper on Thursday.

According to the Crystal Police Department, the Hennepin County Attorney's Office has charged 18-year-old Shi Sho with second-degree assault and fleeing police. The charges allege he was driving the car that struck the officer near the end of a chase that began Thursday when a State Trooper attempted to pull him over for speeding on I-694.

After he was penned in by State Patrol and Crystal Police squad cars, the Des Moines teenager allegedly rammed into several of the law enforcement vehicles in an attempt to get away and struck the officer in the process. The initial reports on the incident indicated another officer fired a gun at the car and Sho stopped the vehicle.

The Crystal Police Department says the injured officer was discharged from the hospital yesterday and is recovering at home.
