With a population just north of 1,000 residents, Carlton, MN is located five miles south of the city of Cloquet; and 21 miles southwest of the city of Duluth. And that just might be where that legendary pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is located. In the past 3 weeks little Carlton, MN has produced not one but two million dollar Powerball tickets!

Two lottery tickets matching five numbers on the Powerball were recently sold in the city, according to the Minnesota State Lottery.

The most recent was bought from the Kwik Twip at 1711 Highway 210 in Carlton on Friday, with Emil Hakomaki winning a $1 million prize. According to a blurb on the Big Winners page on the Minnesota State Lottery website, the Hibbing resident was “touring around Gooseberry Falls” on June 9 when he made a pit stop at Kwik Trip in Carlton and purchased one Powerball ticket.

Hakomaki, who works as a field service rep for heavy industrial process equipment, has no plans to retire early, saying, “I love what I do."

"I’m going to invest,” he continued. I’ll also set a chunk aside for fun money!” Hakomaki wasn’t exactly sure what that means quite yet but said a new speed boat might be in the works. - Minnesota State Lottery Website

Kwik Trip is located at 1711 Highway 210 in Carlton. The business will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the $1 million winning ticket.

No one has come forward yet to claim the other $1,000,000 prize that was won back in May and was sold at the Mini Mart Carlton #549.

Why not press your luck and go for 5K or a Trip to Vegas to see Metallica?
