Rollerblades + Cocaine Lead To Major Drug Bust In Wisconsin

Sometimes stories break that sound more like an unlikely plot of a movie rather than something happening in real life.

That is exactly what unfolded recently when the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department’s Kenosha Drug Operations Group (KDOG), Tactical Response Team (TRT), and members of the Department of Homeland Security Investigations Team (HSI) all worked together in an operation that led to a major seizure of contraband.

The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department alerted the public about the joint effort recently on its official Facebook page.

According to the post, the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department’s Kenosha Drug Operations Group had been contacted by Homeland Security about an intercepted package that had been shipped from Bogota, Columbia to a residence in the 6600 block of 26th Avenue in Kenosha.

The package reportedly contained a set of Canariam Rollberblaes. However, U.S. Customs and Border Protection identified the wheels of the rollerblades as suspicious. A series of tests revealed that the wheels were infused with a gelatin-like substance that ultimately tested positive for the presence of cocaine.

Authorities then went through the process of securing a warrant that would allow them to confiscate the package and further investigate the residence once it was successfully delivered.

On Friday, March 1st, 2024 around 9:30 AM, authorities officially conducted a joint operation to serve the search warrant after the package was accepted by residents of the Kenosha residence.

What All Was Discovered Once The Search Warrant Was Served?

Once the residence was secured, a search of the residence ensued and the following items were recovered:

• 1048 grams of cocaine (1 Kilogram and 48 grams). Approximate street value of  $35,000, if sold by the kilogram.
•  $3475 in USC
• Money transfer documents from Kenosha to Bogota totaling over $30,000.
• Numerous forged documents including false permanent resident alien cards, social security cards, and Colombian identification cards.

The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department added that this is an active and ongoing investigation, with potential charges being sought on the individuals involved, and no further information will be released at this time.
