Elgin, MN (KROC-AM News)- A motorist was hospitalized following a car crash in southeast Minnesota Thursday morning.

The State Patrol responded to the crash near the Olmsted-Wabasha County line shortly after 6 a.m.
A single vehicle was involved in the accident. The driver was the sole occupant.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Hwy. 42 and 290th Ave. just south of Elgin.
The car was traveling north on Hwy. 42 when it crossed the centerline, entered the ditch on the southbound side, drove up an embankment then crashed into small trees, the state crash report says.
21-year-old Mason Matthew Rafdal of Albert Lea was identified as the driver. The State Patrol says he was brought to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester with non-life-threatening injuries.
Rafdal was buckled up and alcohol was not involved in the crash, the state crash report indicates.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office and Plainview Police Department also responded to the crash.
