Stewartville, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office has closed the case of the shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the Stewartville High School late last year.

The shooting happened on the morning of December 12 as the Stewartville High School Wrestling team was loading a bus for a trip to Grand Forks, ND for a wrestling match. Two gunshots were fired.

A member of the Tiger wrestling team was struck by one of the bullets and was immediately taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition. 

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office reported that the wrestler was released from the hospital in late December and at last report was “at home and recovering well.”

Authorities identified the shooter as 19-year-old Logan Moyer, who graduated from Stewartville High School in 2024.

He was a member of the team while he was in school.

Moyer was found dead at the scene of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The sheriff’s office said Moyer was no longer affiliated with the team at the time of the shooting.

Stewartville High School Parking Lot Shooting Case Closed Under Status of Exceptional Clearance

In a statement issued on Tuesday,  Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Captain Tim Parkin says the case was closed following a, “review of all of the information, including interviews, reports, and autopsy results, as well as consulting with the County Attorney’s Office.” 

Parkin says the now-closed case has been given the status of “exceptional clearance,” which means law enforcement considers the case solved due to the death of the suspect.
