Listen to Rice County Deputy Sheriff Derik Estrem discuss driving his Dodge Challenger while on duty with soybean based tires. Derik is a third generation farmer in Rice County raising corn and soybeans with his uncle, brother and cousins and also serves and protects citizens of Rice County as a Deputy Sheriff. Who better to test these new Goodyear tires made from soybeans then Derik?

The Rice County Corn and Soybean Growers along with the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council donated a set of 4 Goodyear soybean oil based tires to the Rice County Sheriff's Department. When I talked with Derik he had about 1,000 miles on the tires and was very pleased so far. He was going to take his car to a driving training program soon where he could really put the new tires to the test!

The really neat fact about the tread made from soybean oil is that is is softer giving you better traction especially during a cold Minnesota winter. It is like having "winter specific" tires that you do not have to take off in the spring when it warms up!

Sure, they're lies...but they also point to a fundamentally positive attitude about our lives in the greatest state in the nation (that just happens to have air that'll hurt your face).
