Mayo Clinic patient, 35-year-old Elizabeth Sammons is awaiting a second heart transplant and a kidney transplant. She has been at the Mayo Clinic for four months and while she's waiting, she has been crocheting scarves for the homeless.

She did something similar last year with her online group called Crocheting with a Cause. They donated 550 hats and scarves to the homeless last year.

KTTC said that on "Monday afternoon, [Elizabeth] gave away more than 25 handmade scarves to the needy — while sharing her gratitude for the care she is being given. 'Even in our time of trouble, the Lord helps us so we can help other people. That’s my basis on it.'”

Elizabeth also stressed the importance of organ donation to KTTC "so those who are awaiting a life saving transplant have a better chance of surviving."
