Minnesota High School Graduate [Finally] Wins $10,000 At Iowa College Basketball Game
Dalton Hinsch, a Mankato West graduate, and current University of Northern Iowa student, made a layup, free throw, 3-point shot, and a half-court heave last week during a basketball game. By doing that he won $10,000 until he didn't win it. The good news is that Hinsch eventually was rewarded with his $10,000 prize, but it wasn't without some drama.
Hinsch had 24 seconds to make all of his shots, and in the video that Hinsch posted to Twitter of the feat shows him making all 4 shots in about 27-seconds. But when you watch the video, you can see there was no visible clock and the announcer is still saying 'ONE' when Hinsch releases the half-court shot.
According to the Des Moines Register, after "a steady stream of criticism, coupled with the timing confusion and the story's viral trajectory, led to Friday's decision," of awarding Hinsch the complete amount of $10,000. The Des Moines Register also stated that "UNI will explore bringing in a portable shot clock that makes the time remaining clear and visible."
