Minnesotans Honor Fallen Marine As He Made His Way Home Yesterday
Communities across Southern Minnesota came together yesterday to honor a fallen Marine heading back home from Okinawa Japan. U.S. Marine Cpl. Eric John Niss De Jesus drowned while going out for a swim with other Marines on June 5th.
Aerial Imagery Media of Mankato captured the above video from the contingent of people standing by and honoring the fallen Marine on his trek back to Mountain Lake.
Scenes like the one in Mankato played out all along Highway 169 and Highway 60 as
Niss De Jesus returned for burial.
Patriot Guard riders, law enforcement, fire departments, and first responders were joined by regular citizens and veterans along the route that wound from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport through Mountain Lake, some 125+ miles away. From the experience of having attended a similar event a few years ago, many attend these events from a sense of duty, and patriotism. It's being able to show your support to the family, even though you may not know them personally.
I saw a sign on social media that summed it up well.
"We Don't Know Them All, But We Owe Them All."
So true, so absolutely true.
