St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Minnesota reached a tragic milestone on its roadways this past week.

The State Department of Public Safety says Minnesota’s 100th traffic fatality of the year occurred on Thursday, which is two days later than the morbid mark was reached last year. The total now stands at 102.

A news release from the department indicates 81 of the people killed in crashes this year where occupants of passenger vehicles or trucks, 3 were on motorcycles, 17 were pedestrians and 1 was a bicyclist. 18 of the fatalities were alcohol-related, 10 involved distracted driving, 20 were speed related and 19 of the victims were not using seatbelts.
