Northfield Boys Basketball #2 Seed in Section 1AAA

The Northfield boys basketball team is the #2 seed in the Section 1AAA Tournament which begins Wednesday at the high seeds.  The Raiders (17-9) will host Kasson-Mantorville (4-22).  Top seed Austin (21-5) receives a bye because there are 7 teams in the section.

#3 seed Winona (17-9) entertains Albert Lea (3-22).  #4 seed Simley (10-16) will have Red Wing (3-23) at their school.  The scene shifts to the Rochester Mayo Civic Center Saturday for the winners with semifinal contests at 1:00 p.m. and 2:45 p.m.

There is a bit of deja vu in the Section 1 Class 4A seeds also with Lakeville North (22-4) again the top seed.  Rochester John Marshall (20-6) is #2.  The Panthers host Owatonna ( 7-19) and Rockets see Rochester Century (14-12) in their gym.

#3 seed New Prague (16-10) plays #6 Rochester Mayo (15-11).  The #4 seed is Lakeville South (13-13) and #5 seed Farmington (12-14).

The semifinals will be 6:30 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. in the Rochester Mayo Civic Arena.  The title game is scheduled for March 15 at 8:00 p.m.

For the 71st consecutive year KDHL Radio will have baseline to baseline coverage of the Minnesota Boys State High School Basketball Tournament.  Four games Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and all the State Championship games on Saturday.
