You're probably not going to find a professor at Harvard, Yale or some other snooty Ivy League college taking this mode of transportation to their commencement ceremony.

But here in Minnesota, it makes sense. I mean, we're the Land of 10,000 Lakes, right? So it's only natural that at this year's spring commencement ceremony at Bemidji State University, a noted professor-- in full cap, gown and life jacket, no less-- took to one of those 10,000 Lakes to make his way to the university.

In a post that's making the rounds here in the Bold North, a professor at Bemidji State University (which is located nearly 5 and a half hours north of Rochester, up north in the heart of Minnesota's lake country) took a canoe to graduation over the weekend.

According to the post on their Facebook page, Bemidji State professor Dr. Brian Donovan is shown making his way across scenic Lake Bemidji as he made his way to the school's centennial commencement ceremony on Saturday.

And in true Minnesota fashion, it got a TON of likes. Well, and a few questions and surprised comments about whether or not the ice was actually out on the lake. Hey, it is only May in Minnesota, right?
