Owatonna Football Scores at Scrimmage, But Injuries Mount
Owatonna football scored at least one touchdown against each of the Class 6A teams that faced off against during Saturday's scrimmage at Prior Lake High School. Their defense kept Farmington out of the end zone and gave up just one TD each to the Lakers and Eastview. The Huskies are a Class 5A team.

Preseason All-State linebacker Grant Achterkirch, an All-District player in 2020, had a soft cast on his right hand. Tailback Dylan Maas did not dress. Wide receiver Justin Gleason was on crutches. At the scrimmage, Aiden Stowe, Alec Jarvis and returning starter Ryley Glassmaker all left the action with injuries.
Taylor Bogen had three touchdown passes on the morning, connecting with Ayden Walter against Farmington, Caleb Vereide versus Eastview and Kaven Torabpour against Prior Lake. Noah Wellnitz hit Peter Swehla for a score against Eastview.
Conner Grems lined up as the No. 1 tailback and had some good gains. One of his best however, was called back due to penalty. Drew Kretlow had a powerful run with the second unit.
Collin Vick and Torabpour had interceptions against the Lightning.
With OHS kickers Drew Henson and Eli Knutson pulling double-duty with their other fall gig of playing soccer, the Huskies borrowed a Farmington kicker in order to get some work with their other special teams players.
The Huskies open the season Friday, September 3 at Rochester Mayo at 7 pm with coverage on AM 1390 KRFO / 94.7 FM and the free downloadable KRFO app. OHS beat Mayo twice in 2020, including a come-from-behind win in the section title game.
