Top-ranked Blake West continued his perfect season with a championship run at the Rumble on the Red wrestling tournament at Fargo, capturing the 106-pound title. The Huskies' sophomore beat third-rated Chase Murphy of Northfield 3-0 for the title. Owatonna finished seventh out of about 50 teams overall.

Defending state champ Cade King lost to Albert Lea's Zach Glazier, who is also a returning state champion, 4-1 in overtime in the finals at 182 pounds. Glazier beat King 3-2 in the finals of the Minnesota Christmas Tournament as well. The two could square off again during the regular season dual meet January 10 in Albert Lea. Multiple head-to-head battles could happen at sections.

Three other Huskies advanced to Saturday, but lost right away in the wrestle-backs. Landen Johnson, Kaden Nelson and Nick Staska each reached the second day of competition.

Next up for the Huskies is The Clash National Wrestling Duals January 4-5 at Rochester Regional Sports Center at RCTC. The Huskies are the second seed in their bracket and will open with Thompson, AL at 4 pm Friday, January 4. Oak Park River Forest, IL is the top seed in the bracket. OHS will also wrestle at 6 pm and 8 pm Friday. Saturday times are based on Friday's results.

Other teams the Huskies could face include Kearney, MO, Dover-Eyota, Burlington, IA, New Hampton, IA and Rochester Mayo.

The other top seeds are Waverly Shellrock, IA, Waukee, IA and Apple Valley. The other number two seeds are Denver, LA, St. Michael-Albertville and Shakopee.
