Porch Pirates around the holiday's are not uncommon, but what one in St. Paul did was very unexpected. Hilary Smith was expecting to find an Amazon Package on her doorstep, not a note.

So just a quick little thank you for leaving me the opportunity of stealing your package. Very nice of you!

The "New Owner" left a note for Smith to find letting her know that she was thankful of the new item that they recently "acquired". Smith originally thought it was a joke from her neighbors. The package contained a phone charger that was meant as a gift for Hilary's boss.

According to Sgt. Mike Ernster, 94 reports of stolen packages have been reported to the St. Paul Police since October 1st. That number could be higher, as not all thefts are reported. Police and many of the shipping companies recommend that a signature should be required so packages are not left unattended. USPS also allows packages and mail to be held at post offices or set up customized delivery spots. Amazon has real time tracking so people are able to track their packages, so they can plan their day if they have to run out and do things before the package arrives.
