Racing Returns To Elko Speedway This Saturday
In gaining back some sense of what things were like BC (Before COVID), Elko Speedway announced last week that racing will be back! There will be 6 classes in total running this Saturday, which is great to hear and gives folks something else to do during their weekend.
You can watch the official racing announcement below in the 50-second message from Elko Speedway.
Racing on Saturday will include late models, thunder cars, modifieds, power stocks, legends, and bandos. Gates on Saturday open up at 5 with the flag being waved starting at 6.
Elko Speedway is gearing up for its 55th year of racing, as the Speedway opened up in 1965. According to the Elko Speedway website, they have "three divisions that race under the NASCAR Banner. The Late Models are highly modified with fabricated frames and fiberglass or aluminum bodies with specialized power plants. Thunder Cars are stock cars with a minor engine and suspension modifications allowed. Power Stocks are a low-cost entry-level division that are nearly straight from the factory." Other common divisions that also compete at Elko Speedway include the Great North Legends and Bandoleros.
On top of the racing that is set to begin again this weekend, Elko's drive-in theater has been busy showing movies this summer. The drive-in is only operating at 50% capacity due to COVID-19 however.
Hey, it's August and we will finally have some racing to look forward to over the next couple of Saturday nights. Better late than never, right?
